Healthy eating sets you up for life, there is no doubt about it. Everyone’s idea of healthy eating is different, and can be anything from vegan, vegetarian and local produce fresh from the farm and straight to the table.
Kindling Restaurant
Located in East Street, this restaurant uses all the classic techniques associated with healthy food, such as fermentation, preservation and sustainability. Only opened in 2019, Kindling’s menu has something for everyone. Fresh soups, fish and meat feature throughout their various menus at Kindling Restaurant, as well as vegetarian and vegan options. All produce is ethically sourced with an emphasis on seasonal availability. Try the varied tasting and sharing menus with a group of friends or family.
With sushi and robotayaki menus, diners get the best of all worlds with fresh ingredients and deliciously grilled meat and fish. Located in Preston Street, the décor at Kujira is modern and sleek with an informal atmosphere for diners to enjoy. In the centre of the restaurant is the kitchen and grill area where you can see the chefs at work. Sharing bowls are what seem to be the most popular with everything from veggie stuffed seaweed wraps, to chicken yakitori, all served tapas style.
The Little Fish Market
Whilst small (only 20 covers), this is the ideal place if you are a fan of the deep blue sea. Fresh fish is served every day, with an ever-changing menu based on the daily catch. The Little Fish Market is only open Tuesday-Saturday for dinner and is based on a set 5-course meal. Expect scallops, monkfish, fish curries and sole as regular courses on the menu, accompanied by dishes such as celeriac and seaweed potatoes – most unusual and very tasty.
Ohso Social
Located right by the pier, this restaurant is a real find. During the day it has a beach bar style atmosphere and light and tasty dishes to keep you going during the day. At night, it becomes a whole different venue, with twinkling lights and a more extensive menu. As you would expect, fish features highly on the menu, but there are some good vegetarian and vegan options. Ohso Social is the perfect place for the children as well, who at certain times of the year can eat free! 2019 Health Choice Award Winner.
Kouzina
Greek food lovers will adore the dishes here, and certainly love the prices! Kouzina is a no-frills restaurant, with healthy, traditional Greek food from a handwritten menu. Whilst you can eat wholesome food, there are some treats in store as well. Expect a variety of grains used, a mixture of fresh salads and some delicious grilled meats.
Interlude
Interlude is fine dining at its best, using produce from their own gardens and from local farmers. Having gained its first Michelin Star, Interlude is more of a multi-course organic tasting experience, that varies from season to season. Located on the Horsham Road near Brighton, the restaurant is beautifully set in well-kept gardens from which the herbs and vegetables are sourced. Expect to be replete when you finish eating here. Stand out dishes include scallops with green almonds and halibut with watercress and seaweed – delicious. If you enjoy meat, you cannot go wrong with their Wagyu beef.
